We’re really proud of the recognition our work at Lynbreck has achieved over the past couple of years.
Best UK New Entrant Business Model
This was awarded to us by the Newbie project via the James Hutton Institute. The Newbie Network is Europe wide and funded by the European Commission. We were proud to be selected winners by a panel comprising of each of the respective UK NFU heads – people who really know their farming stuff! We plan to use our 500 Euro prize money to further our training in a couple of specific areas.
Best Crofting Newcomer
This was awarded to us by the Scottish Crofting Federation at the first ever Spirit of Crofting Festival. Our award is sponsored by the family of Euan MacRae, a crofter who sadly lost his life at a very
young age. We were delighted with our large Quaich trophy and felt very proud to be acknowledged in this way.
Cairngorms Nature Farm Award
This was awarded to us by the Cairngorms National Park Authority who every year choose a farm that does its bit for nature, alongside day to day farming practices. Our croft business is rooted in nature and we were really pleased that our work here was being seen in a positive environmental light. We loved our prize of a night in a hotel – a very rare night off the croft – and we’re excited to continue working with the national park in the coming years.
